The
Task Force Goals:
The
goal of the Health Fraud Task Force of California is
to reduce the incidence of health fraud. Health
fraud is any false, misleading, or unproven claim
about the cure, treatment, or prevention of a
disease or medical condition. One means of accomplishing this goal is to provide consumers with
access to information that will assist them in
making informed choices about their own health care,
thereby reducing the likelihood that they will be
victims of health fraud scams. The Task Force
includes representatives from prosecutorial and
regulatory agencies, community-based organizations,
and advocates of both traditional, and
alternative, health care.
The Task Force is currently meeting its goals
through actions, a variety of activities which include:

Continued distribution of brochures in Spanish and English;

Development of a maintained website to provide information and referrals.
